Roofers are making more than six figures!
This morning I had a very nice LinkedIn chat with my new friend and business associate, Dean White, in the UK. He is a London based marketing consultant who works with tradespersons to grow their businesses. That works for me, the more people out there using to make the trades and especially roofing better. The better off we will all be.
He and I talked about how being a roofer was perceived here and over there. I have to be honest here. I have seen some fantastic metalwork by the UK and Europian roofers that shames us here in America. That, my friends, is why I am on a mission to make roofing better. We have to be as good or even better than our UK and European counterparts. (No offense Dean, you guys rock!)
Did you know that in the UK, tradespeople are making six figures and up? Did you know that roofers are at the top of that list?
Roofers living the high-life
Across the whole of the UK roofers are the highest earners, with an average turnover of £65,213. Joiners come in second at £56,386 and electricians take third place with an average £47,385.
At the other end of the spectrum, painters are the least well paid of the trades listed in the findings, with an average £28,604 annual turnover – although location matters, with painters in some regions earning more than electricians
Currently, there are several plays in action to help bring better training to the roofers in America. The NRCA and the NCCER are collaborating on an accredited roofing program. I am humbled and proud to be a small part of that effort as a subject matter expert for the NCCER. I see no reason what so ever that we can't learn from our roofer friends across the pond.
